1st Thessalonians 2:8

" We loved you so much that we shared with you not only God’s Good News but our own lives, too."
This is just one specific bible verse that had stuck out to me as I had been preparing to come here to Jinja, Uganda. And being that we are examples even in how we live our lives, it very much makes sense. I've been here at Redeemer House now since November 9th, around 6 something in the evening and oh my goodness. You wouldn't think such a short time can be so full but oh, I knew it would be and still cannot handle it half the time! I have so much to say but, for now, know that all is well. These 12 days i have seen and learned so much, and it has been beautiful. I've been to the home of a family who have very little, but much more faith than those you sometimes find in churches, I've gone to the school that our kids attend and had children all around me trying to hold my hands with the biggest smiles, I've met others who have put feet to their beliefs from all parts of the world to come to Jinja, I've gone to the shops on main street and in the market and seen people going about their shopping and price negotiating that you don't find in your neighborhood grocery store, and taken a boda boda (motorcycle taxi) to and from places because just like downtown San Antonio - downtown Jinja is very busy and you don't want to search and pay for parking. I've spent these last 12 days in a house full of kids who are always laughing and dancing and playing and you never would guess what sort of live they have been through. To those of you who are standing with me in this endeavor, it has only been a short time but certainly not wasted and is going to grow so much. To those of you who I have left in the US I love you and sometimes I pretend you are here. To everyone, thank you so much! And to God, who has made the world and put all of us where we need to be, I'm very thankful to be here!

Look for more updates soon, as I stay and learn and grow and in drawing nearer to God, hopefully drawing others to God too!
(The photo below is along the road between the kids' school and the house, don't worry, there are many many more pictures to come!)
